Today I share with you one of the most powerful technologies I have learned to cultivate faith.
If you know me or have been following me, you have probably witnessed that I make bold moves. For example:
- marrying a man that lived 8000 miles away and didn’t speak the same language as me
- quitting my cozy 6- figure bread-winning job as an academic
- recently my husband quitting his job and our family moving to the other side of the country to be closer to nature.
I know many wonder, how can you take so much risk?
I mean let’s face it we all need to feel safe and none of the actions above came with security. Now I wasn’t always like this, in fact, far from it.
I stayed in a job that didn’t really fill me for a decade because I was too scared to live without security (health benefits was my main excuse).
Where did this sudden stealth faith and trust come from?
I’m sure lots of things played a factor:
- Finally hurt enough
- Divine timing
- Becoming a new mother
However, when I reflect now on my self-discovery journey I can without a doubt say that Kundalini Yoga had a big part to play and I didn’t notice till much later.
Here are the facts:
I had got to a place where I was so afraid and fearful for my future that I “googled” Fear (yup, that’s my go to for spiritual counsel). Google did help me find God and forgive my dad, so let’s not discount it’s power.
What came up was a video entitled “40 day practice for becoming a fearless conscious leader.” In the video, a woman whose music I had heard before and just felt so at ease with her voice, Snatam Kaur and another man with a turban (her husband) played this most beautiful song and music and recommended doing these arm poses.
Truth was, I couldn’t do the arm poses and this all felt so weird but I felt better when I would listen to it. It calmed my anxious state so I listened to it over and over.
I didn’t know it at the time but that little decision to listen to this video for 40 days was the start of a huge transformation.
Shortly after, a blog came into my life: The Daily Love.
I would read this blog every day and suddenly a new world opened up to me. Mastin (the founder) would write about being the creator of your life and not needing anyone’s approval.
I didn’t know it at the time but he was a Kundalini Yogi.
I can tell you now that by listening to Kundalini Music for 40 days, I was raising an antennae that invited this guidance of a fellow spiritual warrior via The Daily Love.
However, it was not till several months later did I have my first class experience which, I share in my latest podcast. It was all sorts of strange but at that class the very thing I wanted to come true happened instantly.
I had recently returned from a speaker training and I was ready to come out of hiding and teach what I was really meant to: faith and spirituality instead of integrative medicine/ health and wellness.
Immediately after the class I was offered to lead my very first 4-week workshop.
Suddenly, all these synchronistic things started to happen and things began to come to me really easily.
I didn’t take classes regularly but when I did, it was like I became really confident and felt really strong emotionally.
Fast-forward several months later, I was walking over the Brooklyn Bridge one day and I saw a painting of an owl in the window and for some reason I felt like it was a sign.
I look up and see a Kundalini Yoga center and thought maybe I need to join?
My very first class at Golden Bridge Yoga, I felt like I was home.
I started to take classes regularly and one synchronicity after another started to happen. For example: a week after joining GB, the Daily Love founder was launching his first book in NYC.
I went to the book launch and while I was waiting to use the restroom I chatted with a man and asked, “What brought you here?” He replied, “My daughter teaches Kundalini Yoga at Golden Bridge and for Mastin Kipp.”
I go upstairs and find who sitting in front of me? The same man and his daughter Mia. I later ended up hosting a Healing the Heart and Kundalini Yoga workshop with Mia in my home.
As you can tell, I am very passionate about this technology and it’s because this form of yoga is very powerful.
I could write pages on the synchronicities that have occurred in my life since I welcomed Kundalini yoga into it, but I would rather you get a feel for it yourself by hearing why it’s so powerful from a certified teacher.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Sariah Sizemore and we chat about the magical powers of Kundalini.
So if you are intrigued, definitely check it out the interview here.
